Salvatore and Romolo are two young and poor young men that are neighbours and friends. They live with their parents in Piazza Navona, Rome. They are poor but handsome, and both fall in love with Giovanna.

In a desolate place called the Badlands, four men stand off with guns drawn, their fingers ready at the trigger. Among them are a fugitive seeking redemption, a son out to avenge his father's murder, a loyal servant with a secret and a murderous criminal hired to kill with a vengeance. Two parents enter a race against time when they receive a distressing late-night phone call from their daughter after she caused a tragic car accident.

The pressure becomes more and more violent, but despite this, the boy battles to expose the truth.

This time the "amici" (friends) are just four: Necchi, Meandri, Mascetti and Sassaroli. With input from actor and writer Jan Hlobil, director and cinematographer Rene Smaal presents a film in the true surrealist tradition, in the sense that only 'found' elements were used, and that it defies interpretation based on ordinary cause-and-effect time sequence.
